Q: How do I create a new case report separate from the one I’m already working on?

A: Simply select the "New Case" button on the right side of the Dashboard.

Q: How do I change the email address on my account?

A: For security reasons, there is not a way to change the email address associated with your account. You will have to sign out and create a new CARE-writer account with the email address you wish to switch to. You can contact us at support@care-writer.com to ask for us to delete the original account.

Q: Why can’t I download my PDF?

A: Your case report PDF will open in a new tab or window in your browser. If you aren’t seeing it, even after clicking “Agree & Continue,” it is likely that your browser has prevented a pop-up from appearing. Click the icon that appears on the right side of your address bar in Chrome and Safari or click “Preferences” in Firefox to accept the pop-up. 

Q: The diagnostic I want to enter is not available in the list of “types.” What should I do?

A: An “other” option is coming soon, but until it has been developed, types not available in our diagnostics entry form will have to be included in a separate table which you can upload to CARE-writer as an image. We are also accepting suggestions for new items for the diagnostics list, which you can submit here.

Remember that the diagnostics table is for numerical data only. The presentation of qualitative data, such as from tomography, surveys, or visual analog scales, must be created in another program and added to your case report as an attachment.

Q: Why can’t I use the date format I want?

A: Currently, dates selected with the calendar for Visit Summaries and Diagnostics appear in the entry form and in editing mode in the format of MM/DD/YYYY, which is standard in the United States. The date format for saved Visit Summaries and Diagnostics and for those appearing in the Case Preview and PDF is YYYY-DD-MM, following ISO 8601, the international standard for date format.

Q: What does the Tx icon in the text editor do?

A: This button clears all formatting for the selected text. This is particularly useful if you happen to be copying and pasting text into the text areas of CARE-writer.

Q: I don’t work at a university or hospital. What am I supposed to enter under “My Affiliations”?

A: If you do not have an affiliation with an academic institution (even as an adjunct or clinical professor) enter the name of your private practice or clinic.

Q: How can I reorder my diagnostics?

A: Diagnostics as they appear both in the case preview and in your PDF are automatically sorted by date by default, and sorted alphabetically by type within each date. At this time, there is no way to reorder diagnostics.
